Castings

Aluminum castings

Castings are produced from certified ingot metals ranging in weight from a fraction of a kilogram to 100 Kgs single piece conforming to BSS LM series, ASTM, DIN and Indian Standards. We offer pressure tight castings with good surface finish. Heat treatment of castings is available on request along with necessary certificates and charts whenever required.

Aluminium castings can be cast in sand, permanent moulds, or formed under high pressure by way of squeeze Casting. Aluminium alloys can be centrifugal cast.

Copper based alloy castings

Castings are produced in a number of alloys like Gunmetal, Phosphor bronze, Aluminium bronze, Leaded bronze, Manganese bronze, Cupro-nickels etc. conforming to IS, BS:1400, DIN and ASTM standards.

Castings Include Bushings, Sleeves, Gear blanks, Impellers, Valves etc. required by pump, mining, and general engineering industry. Castings are also made to withstand pressure. Chemical and physical properties are guaranteed.

Centrifugal castings

When it comes to needing liners, sleeves, wear ring material or other centrifugal cast parts, Essen Aluminum is your answer. Castings with dense grain structure, free from porosity are produced by this manner. A circular, metallic die is clamped to the turntable of the machine. This die is then spun at a high RPM and liquid metal is delivered into the die. Due to the centrifugal force, the molten metal is forcefully thrown to the periphery of the die and forms a dense and porosity free casting. This process is used for producing gear blanks, sleeves and other high integrity castings. Essen Aluminium pours centrifugal castings upto 25 inches in diameter and 4 inches thick weighing upto 125 Kgs.

We have been doing centrifugal castings since 1975 and cater to quite a few buyers. Metals poured are Phosphor bronze, Gunmetal and Cupro-nickels. We also specialise in casting gear blanks with cast iron hub in-situ with radiological bonding between the cast iron and bronze interface.

Squeeze Castings

If castings are required with qualities of forging, go for Squeeze castings! Components are produced by introducing liquid metal into dies and holding it under very high pressures. The castings thus produced, exhibit remarkable physical properties, are of excellent surface finish and have accurate dimensions. They are also easily machinable. Components that can be produced are Gear blanks, Gear blanks with cast iron hub, Bushings, Rods etc. Metals that can be poured are almost all copper based alloys and aluminium alloys.

Quality Program

Metal control

All raw materials used in Essen Aluminum's operations are certified ingots. A certificate of anlysis backs each load of ingot from ingot supplier. This certificate can be supplied upon your request. All material by alloy, is kept separate in the manufacturing process. Thus there is no contamination between alloys. Test bars are available, upon request, which will supply the customer with physical and chemical properties of the variuos alloys.

Melt Control

All material is melted in oil fired crucible furnaces and degassed before pouring. Metal temperature is very critical in the melting and pouring of metal. Immersion temperature pyrometrs are used to determine metal temperature during the melting cycle and to also determine proper pouring temperature prior to pouring. These pyrometeres are periodically calibrated by the manufacturer to indure accuracy at all times.
